Noch ist er da, der Herbst, aber langsam kommt der Winter. Oft gibt es morgens wieder zauberhafte Raureifkreationen zu bewundern – sie gehören immer zu meinen Lieblings-Fotomotiven!
Im Zoo ist nun ein sehr großer Bereich fürs neue Pandagehege abgesperrt, es wird fleissig gebuddelt! Ich bin schon so gespannt! :D

Noch was Feines: Auf der Facebook-Seite der Freunde der Hauptstadtzoos gibt es momentan einen Wettbewerb, wo jeder seine Lieblings-Knut-Fotos posten kann. Es gibt auch was zu gewinnen! Ich bin nun endlich mal in die Puschen gekommen, auch vier Bilder hochzuladen – also, wer mitmachen möchte (oder abstimmen ;) die Bilder mit den meisten „Likes“ gewinnen) – das geht allerdings nur noch bis Mittwoch – hier ist der Link zum Fotowettbewerb!

Frozen beauties….
Autumn is still here, but slowly winter is coming… Often in the morning you can admire beautiful white frost creations – always some of my favourite photo objects!
At the zoo a big area is now fenced for the new panda enclosure, there is already lots of digging! I am so excited how it will turn out! :D

Der ewige Kreislauf des Lebens – die Pfleger im Tierpark waren zum ersten Mal bei Tonja und sahen ein putzmunteres Baby! Aber sie entdeckten auch, dass Aika im hohen Alter von 35 Jahren friedlich eingeschlafen war. Sie wird uns so fehlen, die alte Eisbärendame, die durch Tonja noch mal richtig jung wurde… ♥
The eternal circle of life – the keepers at the Tierpark were at Tonja`s den for the first time and saw a healthy, chirpy baby! But they also discovered that at the high age of 35, Aika had passed away peacefully. We will miss her a lot, the old polar bear lady who turned young again through Tonja… ♥

Dear Christina, what exactly do I have to do for voting for your pic of Knut and the turtle? Although you know that I always loved all your pics of Knut, this one was one of my all-time favorites. And funny but true, recently, somebody of the US who remembered that I helped you with saving your pics shortly before the Webshot disaster, was asking where she could find these pics of that period, and actually for exactly the same reason: âbig mightyâ (na ja, more or less as he himself was still very young) Knut having that turtle as kind of a toy and being rather careful with this animal.
You know, sometimes, it is very strange (or should I say funny) to realize that even after all these years, a lot of people still do remember the same memories, pics and feelings.
And if ever there is/are pics to win whatever contest, then I think that it should be yours.

Yes the Knut & Turtle pics and the memories are for me, too, after all these years still fascinating. How he handled the turtle, how thrilled he was, how fascinated and horrified we were, fearing for the turtle… How I nearly cried when the turtle finally was saved… It was a crazy crazy time…

am nächsten Tag präsentierten sich mir auch noch all diese gefrorenen Schönheiten,und ich hab den Besuch im Zoo wieder sooo genossen! Besonders mein Katilein!
Um Aika tut es mir auch sehr leid, und ich werde sie nicht vergessen! Das war so ein direkter und greifbarer Kreislauf des Lebens….näher ging nicht.
Dankeschön auch für die Erinnerung an sie!
Den Fotowettbewerb finde ich toll,natürlich vote ich für ein Foto von dir.Ich weiß nur noch nicht genau,für welches.Alle sind es wert!

Liebe Christina,
das ist ja mal eine feine Sache mit dem Fotowettbewerb auf der Facebook-Seite vom Zoo, ich war mal gucken, was ist das eine feine Sammlung wunderschöner Bilder, da werden so viele Erinnerungen wach! Natürlich hab ich deine Bilder geliked, du hast so schöne ausgesucht!!! Ich bin mal sehr gespannt auf das Ergebnis!
Raureif ist ein ganz zauberhaftes Naturschauspiel, und du hast wunderbare Bilder davon gemacht! Das Edelweiß ist ein Kunstwerk! Wunderhübsch finde ich auch die ganz zarten Linien an der Glasscheibe!
Ich kenn den Zoo Berlin ja nicht, aber das sieht schon gewaltig nach einer Großbaustelle aus, bin sehr gespannt, wie das Ergebnis wird.
Plato gefällt ja wohl sein neues Gehege richtig gut, ich hab mich auch sehr gewundert, daß er bei seinen Bemühungen um das Grün nicht abstützt!
Die gefrorenen Beeren und der kleine rot-grüne Zweig sind zauberhaft!
Knutis Statue in all dem bunten Laub von seinem Amberbaum sieht so berührend schön aus!
Das Bild Pinguine und Reiher ist herrlich, auf den ersten Blick fällt es gar nicht auf, hihihi!
Die Bilder vom Hipno Thar sind toll, vor allem das im Gegenlicht!
Die Nachricht über Aikas Tod hat doch traurig gemacht trotz ihres Alters, sie wird sehr fehlen! Danke für das schöne Erinnerungsalbum von ihr und Tonja, welch einen Spaß Aika im Schneegestöber beim raufen mit Tonja hatte, sie ist ja wirklich noch mal richtig wieder jung geworden durch sie und später Wolodja!
Ich wünsche dir und allen hier eine schöne und hoffentlich ruhige 1. Advents-Woche mit lieben Grüßen

Dear Christina, We’ll miss Aika so much, and will never forget the way that Tonja coaxed her to behave like a young bear again. She had a long and sweet life, and is now enjoying her youth again in Bear Heaven. There is something fitting about the timing, slipping away while Tonja is busy with her little one and won’t feel the loss of her dear friend as much. Go with our love, dearest Aika.
We saw this too late to vote for your pictures, thanks to having the worst internet connection in the known universe – the price we pay for living in a beautiful but remote rural area. I could never choose from among your pictures but, of my many cherished memories of Knuti, the Incident of the Turtle is likely the closest to my heart. In part, it encapsulated the fear that was so closely entwined with my love for Knut – fear that something would happen to him, the lingering feeling that he wouldn’t be here for long. That feeling would make us google his name in the middle of the night to make sure nothing had happened to him. And suddenly, the hapless little turtle was part and parcel of that fear. I held my breath until it was safe – Knuti was so big, and the turtle was so little. Anything could have happened. Yet there was truly something deeply mysterious about the intense interest he showed, the tender way he looked at it, and the careful way he handled it and seemed to want to show his pet to the visitors. I can’t help thinking he passed on to this little helpless creature some of the love his Papa gave him when he was similarly small and helpless. It was one of those things that just can’t happen – except that it DID.
Your pictures of flowers and plants gilded with frost are very beautiful, and really do justice to my favorite part of the year. Hello, dear Plato! The polar bear enclosure looks a bit desolate, and I hope Kati is snuggled up comfortably in her den. Hello, Knuti-statue, resting in the mellow autumnal sun. I was feeling the chill of autumn and just thinking how nice a bowl of hot soup would be! I’m glad the restaurant could provide that for you. Hello, Hypno-Thar!
